Oxford Radcliffe Biobank

Oxford Radcliffe Biobank (ORB) is an ethically approved Research Tissue Bank providing access to human biological samples from patients for use in medical research. ORB assists researchers in creating new tissue collections for studies that are focused on bringing the latest innovations to benefit patients. 

Resource Details

  • ORB is an HTA licenced Research Tisse Bank (RTB) (HTA Research Licence number 12217). 
  • ORB works with the Molecular Diagnostic Centre Molecular Pathology Team to enable prospective sample collection.
  • ORB can support researchers within Oxford University and the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust to set-up and undertake their research involving samples and data.
  • ORB acts as a gateway to myriad stored human biospecimens including, adrenal, breast, colorectal, gastrointestinal, haematopathology, head and neck, lung, lymphoma and leukaemia, melanoma, renal, sarcoma, thoracic oncology, urology and more.
  • Provides various sample formats of primary or metastatic cancer and related normal bloods, urine samples, processed and part-processed samples such as tissue microarrays.   
  • Holds associated datasets including demographics, pathology and clinical data, all anonymised to ensure confidentiality is maintained.
