Specific Cohorts and Initiatives

Oxford BioResource represents many of the specific cohorts running in Oxford. These are tissue collections established with a particular disease area, or clinical uncertainty in mind to help develop new approaches to treatment. By collecting tissue and clinical information and following patients over time, clinical scientists can observe how conditions evolve, what the triggers might be, and which treatments are most effective. Many of the initiatives promote research collaborations allowing access to samples by research groups external to Oxford, in the hope that sharing innovations will speed up delivering patient benefits.

Ethical approval and permissions associated to the resources vary from cohort-to-cohort. Research groups coordinating access have different routes and access policies. To find out more, select a specific cohort from the list located on the left.
